Newland Driving School Ltd (company no. 17483504, registered office 73 Welbeck Street, Hull, HU5 3SB) is the data controller for the personal information described here. We follow UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What we collect

• Booking enquiries: your name, phone number, email (if given), whether you want manual or automatic lessons, and anything you write in your message.
• Learners: the details we need to teach you safely. This includes your driving licence details, pick-up address, lesson history and payments, and any health information you choose to share that affects your driving.
• Photos: pass photos, used only with your consent.
• Website use: anonymous visit and performance statistics. These don't use cookies or identify you.

How and why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and arrange lessons (taking steps to enter into a contract with you).
• To provide lessons, take payments and keep records (performing our contract and meeting legal obligations).
• To use health information you share to keep you and other road users safe. We only do this with your explicit consent.
• To show pass photos on our website and social media (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
• To keep the website secure and working well (our legitimate interests).

We never sell your data or use it for third-party marketing.

Who we share it with

We only share your data with service providers that help us run the business:

• Vercel, which hosts this website.
• Resend, which delivers booking enquiry emails to us.
• WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us that way.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the USA. Where they do, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses. We may also share information when the law requires it, for example with the DVSA or the police.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to lessons: up to 12 months.
• Learner and payment records: up to 6 years after your last lesson, for tax and legal reasons.
• Pass photos: until you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict or object to how we use it. You can also ask us to transfer it to you or someone else. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
